What’s in it for me?

Three Things to Foster

The internship is designed not just as an opportunity for you to serve and be a blessing in the church, but to grow and be blessed by the church in these three main areas:

  • Theology

The internship provides a dedicated time to grow in your understanding of God’s word and how it applies to your life, the lives of those around you, and to the life of the church.

The study program has been refined over a number of years and will contain a mixture of reading and discussion, as well as teaching from different people throughout the Collective.

  • Service

The internship program is not just an opportunity to study, but serves as a place to live out what you learn in the context of a local church, loving God by loving and serving his people.

Every intern will have opportunities to serve in every area of the church with weekly responsibilities as well as the chance to go deeper in specific areas where appropriate.

  • Character

Most importantly, the internship will serve as an opportunity to grow in your love for Jesus. That through study, serving and taking a step deeper into the life of the church, your love for God and his people will be deepened and you’ll be shaped more into the image of Jesus.

The purpose of the internship is not just to give you a great year, but prepare you for a lifetime of living for God.

  • How long is the internship?

The 2025/2026 internship will run from 15th September 2025 to the 15th June 2026.

  • What will a typical week look like?

The internship is a commitment of roughly 30 hours a week. Most of the internship takes place on Sunday, and training and team gatherings on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Besides this, there are opportunities to serve all through the week.

  • Will housing be provided?

  • What will I be doing?

The internship involves theological study, as well as opportunities for training and serving i

If you have a particular interest or are gifted in a particular area, the internship will provide an opportunity to receive training and explore this further.

  • Can I work or study alongside the internship?

Yes, as long as your work or study commitments can fit around the internship hours.

  • What financial support is available?

Details about bursaries will be shared upon application.

  • How do I know if the internship is right for me?

We hope that any potential applicant would be prayerful in considering applying for the internship and to take time to ask whether God is calling you to give a year to serve the church and to know in your knowledge of him. We would also encourage applicants to be consulting godly, Christian people in their lives and asking for their guidance.

A Word From Previous Interns

Some interns have gone on to plant and lead churches or serve in various ministry roles. Even more have gone on to serve God in regular jobs, equipped with theological knowledge to engage on the front line of mission outside of the church.

Whatever course your life takes, the internship aims to equip you to live for God in whatever context you find yourself.

Josh

“Although people have gone on to do different things after the internship and live out our faith in different contexts, I know that each of us have a higher awareness and respect for the local church, Christ’s bride. I couldn’t have entered pastoral ministry without the necessary training that a week-by-week internship did, and it helped me to love Jesus above all else - thinking about how I could use tasks in life to honor Him”

Jess

“I grew within the life of the church through serving on different teams, being involved in many youth areas throughout it the church community, and growing my knowledge theologically through the books we read and discussions we had each week. These discussions were so helpful to my growth spiritually during the internship.”

Tarloke

“The internship helped me to develop a heart for ministry and not being afraid to go for things that I would think out of my reach...knowing that it doesn’t matter what I do whether it’s behind the scenes in front of the scenes in the middle of the scenes it’s not about me.”
